Great Falls Nat'l Park

I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

This weekend hubby and I took our walk along the C&O Canal and to see the Great Falls in Maryland.  The first thing I noticed looking across the Potomac River were a pair of Bald Eagles at a nest.  Other birds seen along the river were the Canada Geese and some Mallards.

Bald Eagles at nest on Potomac River & Great Falls, Md

It is always a treat for me to see the eagles. I am happy that they seem to be doing so well.

Some scenic shots from Great Falls National Park, Md. It is a simple pleasure to go out for a walk and enjoy nature scenes and to look for birds.

Snow, ice and rushing water at the Great Falls National Park in Maryland.

Hooded Mergansers at a local Maryland lake.

Three male Hooded Merganser with two female Hooded Mergansers.

Mixed group of Canada geese and some Common Mergansers.

It was a warmer weekend, Sunday we had temps in the mid 50's and it was partly cloudy. It was nice to be able to go out for a walk and not have to worry about snow and ice.  I hope everyone had a great weekend.

  12. I managed to see a bald eagle fly across the highway on our drive to Florida. It was a first for me to see one in the wild but there was no camera op unfortunately. It would be interesting to watch a pair at their nest.

  32. Hello Eileen,
Bald and Fish eagles are generally hardy and efficient... if man leaves them alone!!
But I think it is the case now in many places around the world.
That is surely exiting to see a pair by a nest! It is huge!
    Cheers, keep well!

  49. Wonderful shots from the park. What a treat to see the bald eagles and the nests. I keep meaning to go to Jordan Lake which is only 25 miles from where I live to find the bald eagle nests that are on a live cam I watch online. Silly to be so close and only see them on the live cam. I've been to that lake before but not in a long time and that was before I realized that bald eagles nest there.
