Around the yard

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday    and Mersad's Through My Lens and NF Trees

They are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts.

I am sharing some of the lovely flowers and butterflies seen around my yard this past week or so.  The butterflies are mostly the male and female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, the Great Spangled Fritillary and the Spicebush Swallowtail.

An Eastern Tiger Swallow on the bloom of the Butterfly bush also known as Buddleia. This bush is also known to be an invasive species. We are finding small plants growing all around our yard. They do attract the Hummingbirds and all kinds of Butterflies.

My male Ruby-throated Hummingbird is always a treat to see.

The past two winters have done a number on our bushes. The Buddleia butterfly bushes seem to be a little scrawny looking and do not have as many blooms as in the past. I hope you enjoyed my blooms, butterflies and post.
Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I appreciate the nice comments..

I use Pic Monkey to create my mosaics, you can use Pic Monkey free or pay for an upgraded version.
I hope you can join in on our fun at  Mosaic Monday and   Our World Tuesday and Mersad's Through My Lens and NF Trees

Thanks to Judith our  host of Mosaic Monday and to the hosting group of Our World Tuesday: Arija, Gattina, Lady Fi, Sylvia, Sandy and Jennifer.  Also thanks to Mersad for hosting Through My Lens and Monica for hosting NF Trees. I wish everyone a happy week ahead!

  1. I can live without a butterfly bush. They are so beautiful as young plants but they get so big and pruning them is always disastrous. But the echinaceas are to die for... the ones in your garden are stunning and the butterflies love them. I think I saw the second butterfly on an echinacea the other day.
Great photos here. Have a great week!

  6. Hi Eileen--you captured some lovely shots of butterflies---very nicely done!
As for the butterfly bush, everyone in this area LOST theirs completely. It's been an awful year for a lot of plants. Hopefully yours will recover.

  11. I'm impressed that you are seeing butterflies, Eileen. They have been scarce here. My butterfly bush isn't quite out yet so maybe when it blooms I'll see a few, but I've had echinacea blooming for quite a while and no butterflies!

The echinacea is always picturesque - the more so for the winged jewels! Buddleia was one of my mother's favourite plants but it sure does need a bit of 'taming'! YAM xx

  50. The butterflies on the pink coneflowers(?) are stunning -- love all your picures; that invasive bush doesn't sound bad if it attracts bees and butterflies!!

  51. Great shots Eileen. I've tried to capture butterflies before but they move so much in an unsteady many that I've never really got a great shot.

  56. Hi Eileen, I have a love of butterflies and your photos are so pretty. That little hummer is beautiful too. I thoroughly enjoyed your post. I'm taking a short break; John is having difficulty with diabetes but I'll be checking in with you.

  57. I wish my butterfly bushes would seed around a bit Eileen, we lost one in the backyard this winter and another in the front is stunted in growth. If the ones in my butterfly garden completely died, I'd replace them in a minute for the hummers and butterflies they attract - plus I love the honey scent of the flowers.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.
