Around the yard_Nov 4

Linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences

For my post this week I am sharing more scenes and birds from around my yard.. The sky shots are thanks to my dear hubby..The moon, birds and fence shots are all me..I love taking photos of the moon, I think it is because of the great zoom on my Canon SX40 camera.. I am off work and home today Nov 4th for Election Day. It is nice two Tuesday's in a row my work is closed, today for Election Day and next Tuesday for Veterans Day..

The moon shots from Oct 29 and Nov 2.. for my Skywatch Friday post.

The Waxing Gibbous moon on November 2nd..

For Tex's Good Fences.. I am sharing the fence behind the Redbud tree and azalea bush in front of our shed. And from last winter some tree branches took down our old split-rail fence..and last our neighbors driveway is between us and the next door neighbor.  It has not been used as a driveway since we have lived here.. Our old fence is covered with vines and berries, the birds love whatever it is..

One of our red maples in the front yard, it was a pretty year for this tree.

I walked around our yard taking some of these shots.. Some birds photos were actually taken from my dining room window..My Cardinal looks like he swallowed a Christmas ball.. And shown in the middle side is the Tufted Titmouse.. Both of these birds are year round visitors to my yard and feeders.

More for my Skywatch Friday post, these are some of hubby's sunset shots from the fireroad... I love the pretty colors and tree silhouettes..  I hope you enjoyed my post, thanks for stopping by. And I  appreciate and thank you in advance for your nice comments..

  3. I love all the reds in your post today Eileen. The maple is superb and a prefect match for the Cardinal. He looks puffed up against the cold and I hope it's not getting too frosty yet where you are.

Yes that camera really works well for the moon shots - great.

  22. The red maples are so gorgeous, Eileen! I loved seeing the cardinals too. I've been seeing a lot of chickadees at my feeder recently, as well as cardinals. I've been seeing some red-bellied woodpeckers in our trees too - I don't normally see them too often - downy woodpeckers are common though. I see a lot of goldfinches - they have changed from their brilliant plumage now - and they are often on my coneflowers eating the seeds. I like watching the birds, too, Eileen, but I don't see anything like you do. So, thanks for sharing "your" birds!

  23. Those moon shots are magical. I can imagine someone walking around up there and looking down at us!
The red maple is stunning. That tree seems to have coordinated every single leaf to turn red at the exact same moment!
My favorite, though is that fat, fluffy well-satisfied-with-himself cardinal!

  35. Great shots, Eileen.

I have a Canon G15, which costs just a bit more than the SX40. It's a lot smaller. But I cannot get moon shots close to as nice as those. (5X zoom is what you pay for pocketability.) Also doesn't do as well on the far-away birdies.
